DESCRIPTION:  This provides a firmware upgrade for the Phillips CDRW drive in selected 
Presario models. It can be used whether the Phillips CDRW drive was installed as 
original equipment or was installed by the customer.

NOTE: To determine whether the system has a Phillips CDRW drive, perform these steps:
	- Click Start, Settings, Control panel to open the Control Panel.
	- Double-click Compaq Diagnostics.
	- From the Compaq Diagnostics dialog, determine the CDRW drive information.

Enhancements/Fixes:
 - Upgrades the firmware to Version C1.8.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq into a temporary directory on your local drive.

2. Put a blank formatted diskette in A: drive.

3. Execute the downloaded executable file (SP16704.EXE).

4. Follow the instructions on the screen. It will extract the files into 
   the diskette as well as in the current directory, and will also create 
   the diskette bootable.

5. Reboot the system with the diskette inside in Drive A. The system will boot to
   the prompt A:

6. At the A: prompt, type "1" and hit Enter key. It will update the firmware.

7. Remove the diskette, and reboot the system.

8. The temporary directory may be deleted.
