DESCRIPTION:
Compaq Diagnostics for Windows will display information about the computer's 
hardware and software configuration and test the computer to ensure it is 
operating properly.

ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
 - Adds support for the parallel port super I/O controller W83627HF-AW. 
 - Fixes issue where the effect of the 'FN' key would "stick" when it was pressed 
   on a Presario 1800 running Microsoft Windows 98.
 - Fixes the incorrect ASCII text string in the Graphics BIOS version information.
 - Fixes the graphics memory size information. The information should be 5 MB but 
   was reported as 1 MB.
 - Now displays the monitor name in the inspect information on Microsoft Windows 2000.
 - Changes installation languages from Portugese to Brazilian Portugese to match 
   languages supported.
 - Fixes issue where unable to uninstall after installing from silent install.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded 
is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number 
above.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Press 
'Space Bar' to confirm the unpacking of files creates a new directory folder in 
the download directory.  All files are unpacked into this newly created 
directory.

To create the four optional installation diskettes, run MAKEDISK.BAT and follow 
on-screen instructions.

3. To install Interactively:
       a) Delete all previous versions of Diagnostics for Windows 1.xx.  Since 
          the DFW 1.xx is a 16-bit application that does not have an uninstall, 
          simply delete the C:\WINDOWS\CPQDIAG directory.
   
       b) Remove all previous versions of Diagnostics for Windows 2.xx.
          - Select Start, Settings, Control Panel
          - Select Add/Remove Programs
          - Select Compaq Diagnostics for Windows and "Add/Remove"
          - delete the C:\WINDOWS\CPQDIAG directory if it still exists
   
       c) Install this version of Diagnostics for Windows
          - Insert diskette #1 into drive A: if installing from optional diskettes
          - Run A:\SETUP.EXE or <path>\SETUP.EXE where <path> is directory from step 2      
          - Select Next
          - Select Finish

       d) Restart the computer for the changes to be in effect
   
   To install non-interactively ("silently"):
       a) Go to the download directory from step 2 above, or copy the contents 
          of all four (4) optional installation diskettes into a directory on the 
          hard drive.
      
       b) Run SETUP.EXE -S from the directory in a) above. 
   
       c) Restart the computer for the changes to be in effect.

4. After the installation is completed, you may delete the directory created in 
step 2 if you wish.
