SYSTEM CONFIGURATION:  Compaq Integrated NetFlex driver installed from 
Compaq Support Software Diskette for Windows NT, or AMD PCNet driver 
installed from Microsoft Windows NT 3.51.

DESCRIPTION:  The driver in this Softpaq has been modified to correct a 
problem that can occur when the Integrated NetFlex adapter is set for 
auto-detect mode and a media cable is not attached.  This can cause: 
- a Blue Screen system trap (due to exhausting the system memory pool) 
- a Windows NT Services lock-up after boot
- a lock-up during system shutdown
- a lock-up of the Service Control Database (causing various NT 
applications such as the Network Control Panel to lock-up)
- a lock-up when executing network commands (i.e. net use or net view)

HOW TO USE:

1.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to 
that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP1657.EXE.

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1657 [ENTER]
The following files will be extracted:
AMDPCN.SYS
AMDDLG.DLL
OEMSETUP.INF
PCNET.HLP
README.TXT

3.  After the files are created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP1657.EXE if you wish.

4.  Refer to README.TXT for installation instructions.
