DESCRIPTION:  Creates a diskette containing Compaq Ethernet/Fast Ethernet Driver - 
              SCO UnixWare 7, Version 7.41.

ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:

       1. Fixed an issue with respect to Backup device link going down
          when the NIC agents polled.
       2. The performance of the driver was improved.

                                              

IMPORTANT:

1. During installation, any incompatible or older version package found
   on the system will have to be removed before installing this 
   package.

2. On UnixWare 7.1.1, before installing this softpaq, patch ptf7604 has
   to be removed otherwise the user might experience bad behavior from
   the Operating System.


HOW TO USE:

Steps 1-5 are performed under DOS, Microsoft Windows 3.1, Windows95 
or Windows NT.
Steps 6-8 are performed under SCO UnixWare 7.

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a clean directory on your hard drive and 
   change to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an 
   executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
   and follow the on-screen instructions. Three files will be created:
   SP16380.TXT, SP16380._01 and QRST5.EXE.

4. Execute QRST5.EXE and you will be prompted to insert the formatted
   diskette in a drive to create a diskette containing Compaq Ethernet/ 
   Fast Ethernet Driver - SCO UnixWare 7.

5. After the diskettes have been created, you may delete the  
   SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2 and the files unpacked in step 3.

6. To install the Compaq Ethernet/Fast Ethernet Driver - SCO UnixWare 7
   log in as "root."

7. Execute the following command to install the ptfn100c package:

        # pkgadd -d diskette1
                
8. Follow the ON Screen instructions to complete the installation.
