DESCRIPTION:  The Options ROMPaq diskettes allow a user to
upgrade the ROM Firmware images for Compaq System Product Options. 
The Options ROMPaq consists of eight (8) diskettes:

	Disk 1 - Smart Array Drives

	Disk 2 - Smart Array Drives

	Disk 3 - Smart Array Drives

	Disk 4 - Smart Array Drives

        Disk 5 - Smart Array Drives

        Disk 6 - Smart Array Drives
        
        Disk 7 - Smart Array Drives

        Disk 8 - Smart Array Drives
 

* NOTE: This Option ROMPaq does not contain firmware images for any
        Compaq tape drives. Obtain the latest Tape Options ROMPaq
	from the Compaq Web site to get the latest tape drive
	firmware from Compaq.  

* NOTE: This Option ROMPaq does not contain firmware images for the 
        Compaq SMART Controller. Obtain SoftPaq SP16276 to get firmware
        for this controller.

* NOTE: ****BOOT FROM DISK #1 TO IDENTIFY ALL SUPPORTED DEVICES****


 I.  REASON FOR RELEASE:

	Fixed in this release are the following items:

        New to this release are the following items:

         New Options Rompaq Protected Mode configuration for 
         Compaq Smart Array SCSI drives.

         Options Rompaq Protected Mode must be first loaded by inserting 
         Diskette #1 to boot and identify all devices available and display 
         their respective software images located on diskettes #2-#8. Each 
         of the other software image diskettes #2-#8 is not bootable, but 
         can be loaded for a specific device by inserting the appropriate 
         diskette and using the Options Rompaq "Refresh" option. Each of these 
         diskettes will also identify all devices available and display their 
         respective software images located on diskettes #2-#8.  
          

         Upgraded the following hard drives:

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain eight (8) formatted 1.44-MB diskettes.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with 
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions.  You will be prompted to 
insert the formatted diskettes in a drive to create the diskettes.

4. After the diskettes have been created, you may delete the  
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. Options ROMPaq diskette #1 is the only self-booting diskette.  Place 
ROMPaq diskette #1 into your drive A: diskette drive and power cycle your
system to begin updating the appropriate components. All other diskettes
should use the "Refresh" option to identify and update appropriate 
components.
