SYSTEM CONFIGURATION:  MS-DOS with a parallel port device that supports 
IEEE 1284 EPP BIOS Draft Revision 3

SUPERSEDES:  SP1147

DESCRIPTION:  Contains four driver files which will load IEEE 1284 EPP 
(Draft Rev. 3) Bios Support on Compaq LTE Elite, Contura 400 Family, or 
Contura Aero laptops.  This support is needed when an EPP device 
requiring functions specified by IEEE 1284 is connected to one of the 
affected laptop products.  EPPSLCOM.SYS is known to fix Conner Tape Stor 
tape backup systems that run off the parallel port.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to 
that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP1630.EXE.

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1630 [ENTER]
The following files should be created:
EPPBIOS.SYS
EPPFIFO.SYS
EPPSLCOM.SYS
EPPSLFIF.SYS
SP1630.DOC

3.  After the files are created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP1630.EXE if you wish.

4.  Edit CONFIG.SYS and place one of the following lines before any 
driver that requires EPP support, and then reboot:
     DEVICE=<path>\EPPBIOS.SYS
            or
     DEVICE=<path>\EPPFIFO.SYS
            or
     DEVICE=<path>\EPPSLCOM.SYS
            or
     DEVICE=<path>\EPPSLFIF.SYS

where: <path>     is the path where driver is to be found
       EPPBIOS    is for standard EPP mode
       EPPFIFO    is for standard EPP mode with FIFOs enabled
       EPPSLCOM   is for SL compatible EPP mode
       EPPSLFIF   is for SL compatible EPP mode with FIFOs enabled
