Version: 03\11\pb

CATEGORY: Software Solution

EFFECTIVE DATE: 10 Apr 1996

PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Deskpro XE 560

OPERATING SYSTEM: N/A

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: Color monitor

DESCRIPTION: Certain Deskpro XE 560 computers may mistakenly set the video mode to monochrome instead of color, even when connected to a color monitor. Users experiencing this problem should use this video firmware patch to force the video mode to be set to color.

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1624.EXE.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1624 [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a diskette drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1624.EXE if you wish.

5. Turn off the computer that requires the firmware upgrade, remove the service cover and set switch 6 of SW502, located on the system board, to "ON" in order to allow flash ROM updates.

6. Place the newly created diskette made in drive A:, and turn on the system to boot from the diskette.

7. Follow the instructions on the screen and select 03/11/PB(backup) as the new ROM firmware image to update when prompted.
