DESCRIPTION: Compaq Personal Computer Diagnostics displays information about the 
computer's hardware and tests the computer to ensure it is operating properly.

 - Improves the speed of the memory test in Automatic mode by removing redundant 
   testing. Automatic mode's default loop-count for memory test is now one instead of 
   four. Analysis indicated that with current memory technologies, errors will be 
   found in the first pass if they exist, so four passes were no longer 
   necessary.  

 - Adds large hard drive support (>30GB by supporting the keyword Giga) in the 
   disk.tm

 - Adds Rambus model and cache entries so that the following models are able to 
   run with/without cache enabled:

 - Displays correct failure (fatal read or fatal write) during cable test in Disk.tm.

 - Removes diskette testing on some products.

 - No longer reports erroneous "SCSI Over Temperature" while identifying SCSI 
   devices in diags.

 - Fixes read test failures after S.M.A.R.T. test.

 - Resolves date advancement issue.

 - Corrects format string for 1GHz support.

 - Removes check of diagnostics status byte in CMOS.

 - Corrects CMOS clock losing or gaining time during some tests.

 - Improves accuracy in device test time shown in diag log file.

 - Memory block count no longer scrolls off screen during test.

 - Updates the S.M.A.R.T. test to handle the new format for log page 2fh along 
   with the old one.

 - Now reports a drive size of zero as an error.

 - Removes Setup as a menu option on current products.

 - Fixes a system lockup that occurred on the Deskpro Workstation AP250 in the 
   Inspect program while loading the netcard.tm.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded 
is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number.

2.  Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Pressing 
"Space Bar" to confirm the unpacking of files creates a new directory folder in 
the download directory. The diskette image file, the image extraction tool, and 
the batch file to create the diskette are unpacked into this newly created 
directory.

3.  After the Diagnostic diskette has been created, you may delete the 
self-extracting file downloaded in step one, as well as the directory folder 
and files created in step two. 

4.  Go to the system that you want to run PC Diagnostics on and power down the 
system.

5.  Place the newly created Diagnostics diskette in Drive A:, and power up the 
system.

6.  The system should then boot to Compaq PC Diagnostics.
