DESCRIPTION:
This SoftPaq creates a ROMPaq firmware diskette that can be used to locally
restore or upgrade the System ROM in the below models. A backup of the current
System ROM will be copied onto the ROMPaq diskette during the flash process.

The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running the Setup Utility by
pressing F10 on the target computer during system power on of the computer, and
viewing File/System Information. This information can be saved into a text
file by selecting File/Save to Diskette.

ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
 - Revised Legacy power management.
 - Report PCI busses as powered down during S3.
 - Enhanced configuration of PCI devices.
 - Added support for future RAMBUS technology.
 - Enhanced temperature guidelines.
 - Reconfigured the AGP Aperture to enhance performance in systems with 2 GB of
   memory.
 - New Intel microcode patch for Pentium4, stepping C1.
 - Corrected a very infrequent erroneous blue screen from Windows 2000 that says
the BIOS is not ACPI compliant.
 - Corrected an ATAPI issue that caused a lockup or reboot during Windows 98 or
Windows Millennium installation when the user clicks "Cancel" when prompted
   to create a startup diskette.
 - Corrected an F10 Setup lockup when AGP cards with more than one device are
   installed.

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette and place it in your A: drive.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that
directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based
on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the
on-screen instructions to build the ROMPaq diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file
downloaded in step 2.

5. Place the newly created diskette in the A: drive of the computer to be
upgraded or restored and cycle system power to boot from the ROMPaq diskette.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the v1.10 Compaq System ROM and
flash the firmware.

WARNING: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR ATTEMPT TO REBOOT THE COPUTER DURING THE
UPGRADE PROCESS!!!
