DESCRIPTION:  Contains the files to create the NetWare Programs From 
Compaq (NPFC) Diskette and the NetWare Programs From Compaq Supplement 
Diskette. 

The NPFC and NPFC Supplement diskettes contain NetWare drivers, NetWare 
Loadable Modules (NLMs), and support information to optimize the 
performance of NetWare on Compaq servers.  The readme files for NPFC and 
NPFC Supplement are available as WINHELP files.  To obtain the WINHELP 
files, download SoftPaq SP1607.

The WHATSNEW.RDM file, found on each NPFC diskette, contains detailed 
information about the updates, new features, and fixes in this version.  
Some of the highlights include:

README FILE UPDATES

- The readme files for NPFC and NPFC Supplement are available as WINHELP 
files.  To obtain the WINHELP files, download SoftPaq SP1607.EXE.

CPQNF3.LAN UPDATES

- CPQNF3.LAN has been enhanced with the Advanced Network Fault Detection 
and Correction Feature, which is now controllable using the Advanced 
Network Control Utility option of the Online Configuration Utility 
(CPQONLIN.NLM).  Two identical supported NICs are required to make use 
of this feature.  

CPQETHER.LAN UPDATES

- CPQETHER.LAN v3.04 has been updated to support Compaq servers with up 
to 3GB of memory.  Previous versions supported up to 1GB.

CPQTOKEN.LAN UPDATES

- CPQTOKEN.LAN v3.04 has been updated to support Compaq servers with up 
to 3GB of memory.  Previous versions supported up to 1GB.

CPQ2ETH.LAN UPDATES

- CPQ2ETH.LAN v3.04 has been updated to support Compaq servers with up 
to 3GB of memory.  Previous versions supported up to 1GB.

CPQ2TOK.LAN UPDATES

- CPQ2TOK.LAN v3.04 has been updated to support Compaq servers with up 
to 3GB of memory.  Previous versions supported up to 1GB.

CPQONLIN.NLM UPDATES

- CPQONLIN.NLM has been updated to support the Advanced Network Fault 
Detection and Correction Feature of the CPQNF3.LAN driver. 

CPQDA386 UPDATES

- CPQDA386.DSK v3.03 corrects the problem of a Page Fault ABEND that can 
occur when loading the driver after a new SMART-2/P controller has been 
added to a server.  This problem surfaces when there are multiple 
memory-mapped PCI adapters already in the server when a new controller 
is installed.

CPQHLTH.NLM UPDATES

- CPQHLTH.NLM v2.30 has been updated to support the Remote Insight 
Board.

- CPQHLTH.NLM has been updated to support Power System Monitoring, in 
which the health driver monitors the Redundant Power Supply and 
Processor Power Module when either is present.  If failures are 
detected, CPQHLTH.NLM records the events in the Critical Error Log.
     
- CPQHLTH.NLM v2.30 has been updated to support Compaq Proliant 5000 
Servers.

- If an excessive number of critical hardware errors are recorded by the 
Health driver, CPQHLTH.NLM v2.30, the Pentium Pro processor board is 
covered under the Compaq Pre-Failure Warranty.

CPQRI.NLM UPDATES

- The Remote Insight device driver, CPQRI.NLM, in conjunction with SNMP 
Insight Agents provide support for the Remote Insight Board.   

CPQPSM.NLM UPDATES

- When CPQPSM.NLM attempts to load, it detects whether another Platform 
Support Module (PSM) is loaded and, if so, will not load.  Attempting to 
load more than one PSM causes the server to ABEND.

- CPQPSM.NLM has been updated to support Compaq Proliant 5000 Servers.

FWS2ASPI.SYS UPDATES

- FWS2ASPI.SYS has been updated to support Compaq Proliant 5000 Servers.
     
FWS2CD.SYS UPDATES

- FWS2CD.SYS has been updated to support Compaq Proliant 5000 Servers.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain two formatted 1.44 MB diskettes.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to 
that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP1606.EXE.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
    SP1606 [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskettes into a 
diskette drive to create the diskettes.

4.  After the diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP1606.EXE if you wish.

5.  Run README.COM on one of the newly created diskettes for an NPFC 
overview and installation instructions.
