DESCRIPTION:
This creates a ROMPaq firmware diskette that can be used to restore the System
ROM in the above Deskpro Series models with a 686P2/P3 Family ROM. A backup of
the current System ROM will be copied onto the ROMPaq diskette during the flash
process.

The ROM Family, ROM date, and processor information can be determined by running
the Setup Utility by pressing F10 on the target computer during system power on
of the computer, and viewing File/System Information. This information can be
saved into a text file by selecting File/Save to Diskette.

ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
- New Intel microcode patch for Pentium III, model 683, stepping B0
- New Intel microcode patch for Pentium III, model 68A, stepping D0
- Changed the NIC's Revision I.D. back to old I.D. to prevent older NIC driver
from having problem with newer I.D. number.

HOW TO USE:
1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette and place it in your A: drive.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that
directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based
on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the
on-screen instructions to build the ROMPaq diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file downloaded
in step 2.

5. Place the newly created diskette in the A: drive of the computer to be upgraded
or restored and cycle system power to boot from the ROMPaq diskette.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the v2.10 Compaq System ROM and
flash the firmware.

WARNING: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR ATTEMPT TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER DURING THE
UPGRADE PROCESS!!!
