DESCRIPTION:  This SoftPaq contains Version 1.8 of the Compaq IJ600
Printer drivers for the operating systems listed above. 

It is equivalent to the drivers contained on the Compaq IJ600 Drivers 1.8 CD 
(Part Number 178340-008).

HOW TO USE:

1.  Download the SoftPaq file to an easily-remembered location
    on your computer, such as the Desktop. The SoftPaq file is a self-
    extracting program named SP15836.EXE

2.  Check if another version of the Compaq IJ600 Drivers software is
    already installed by selecting Start->Programs and looking
    for "Compaq IJ600" in the Programs menu. If found, uninstall
    it by selecting:
    Start->Programs->Compaq IJ600->Compaq IJ600 Uninstall

3.  Check that the Compaq IJ600 is properly connected to your computer
    and is powered on (Refer to the IJ600 User Guide for assistance).
    If the "Add New Hardware Wizard" screen appears, select [Cancel].

4.  Open (or Run) the SoftPaq file that was downloaded in step 1 and
    follow the on-screen instructions. The SoftPaq will be "unpacked"
    into a folder on your hard drive. By default, it will be unpacked
    into a folder named \Program Files\Compaq SoftPaqs\SP15836

5.  After the files have been unpacked, the IJ600 Drivers setup
    program will automatically begin.

6.  The "Printer Installation" panel will appear.

    If your printer is  attached to a parallel (LPT) port, select the
    LPT port number it is attached to (usually LPT1:) and click [Next].

    If your printer is attached to a USB port, leave the Port set to
    LPT1: for now and click [Next].

7.  Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions. After the drivers
    are installed, the Compaq IJ600 Control Program will appear.

    If your printer is attached to a parallel port (e.g., LPT1:), skip
    to step 10.

    If your printer is attached to a USB port, you will see a
    "Printer Not Ready" error message. Click [Cancel] to dismiss the
    error message before continuing to step 8.

8.  Restart Windows. Make sure the printer remains connected and
    powered on while restarting.

9.  Select Start->Settings->Printers to open the Printers folder.
    Select the Compaq IJ600 printer icon, then select File->Properties.
    On the Properties window that appears, select the "Details" tab.
    For the "Print to the following port" setting, select

    USB-Inkjet_4103 (USB Printer Port)

    Click [OK] to close the Properties window, then close the Printers
    folder.

10. After the IJ600 Drivers are installed, you may delete the SoftPaq
    file (from step 1) and the SoftPaq folder (from step 4) if you
    wish.
