DESCRIPTION:
This SoftPaq creates ROMPaq firmware diskette that can be used to restore or
upgrade the System ROM in Deskpro EN Series SFF Models with a 686T5 Family ROM.
The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running F10 Setup.
A unique feature of the ROM is one that allows the user to select the language
used in F10 Setup. The user may choose between Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish,
French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swedish. Please note
however that the user sees the chosen language only in F10 Setup not in the
operating system.
This ROM is compatible for use with Microsoft Windows 2000.
ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
- Enhances reporting of hard drive greater than 64 GB.
- Adds support for a dynamic boot menu during POST via the F9 key to allow users
to bypass the boot order on each boot. To use, press the F9 key during POST when
the "F10=Setup" prompt is active. From there, select your boot device.
- Corrects issue of regenerating a UUID (Universally Unique Identification)
number after original has been cleared.
- Corrects the ACPI PCI IRQ Routing for Slot #2.
- Corrects issue with Microsoft Natural Keyboard.
- Corrects display of processor and front side bus speeds in System Information
menu.
- Corrects an issue where disabled PCI devices lying behind a bridge could
possibly conflict with other PCI devices when the respective card is moved
between slots. Example: a multi-port video card with the secondary ports
disabled could conflict when moved between slots.
- Fixes a problem with certain PCI RAID controllers which prevented them from
working on every boot after the first time it is installed.
HOW TO USE:
1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.
2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that
directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a file name based
on the SoftPaq Number above.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded Spxxxx file to unpack
the ROM image files. You will be prompted to insert the formatted diskette in a
drive to create the diskette.
4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file
downloaded in step 2.
5. Keeping the newly created diskette in the A: drive, cycle system power to
boot from the ROMPaq diskette.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the 08/21/99 Compaq System ROM or
the Language Module option and flash the firmware.
