                       IMPORTANT: To determine if your computer contains this modem,
                                  follow these steps. --
                          
                       1. Right click on "My Computer" located on the desktop.
                       2. Select "Properties" on the menu.
                       3. Select the "Device Manager" Tab.
                       4. Ensure that "View Devices by Type" is selected at the top of 
                          the window.
                       5. Scroll down until you see "Modems" and click on it.
                       6. If it shows "HSP56 Micromodem" then use this SoftPaq.
                          If not, then do not use this SoftPaq.

DESCRIPTION:  This is the driver for the HSP56 Micromodem for the Presario 
models listed above running Windows Millennium Edition (ME).  It contains the 
same driver version as in SoftPaq SP15329, but is more flexible because 
the installation will work both on models that came from Compaq with 
Windows ME preinstalled and on models that upgraded to Windows ME using the 
Microsoft retail upgrade.

Enhancements/Fixes:

In this SoftPaq:
 - This SoftPaq will install the driver on both Compaq models with Windows ME 
   preinstalled and on models that upgraded to Windows ME.

In this SoftPaq and in previous SoftPaq SP15329:
 - Adds new diagnostic features to HSPDIAG.EXE.
 - Fixes blue screen error when signing on to AOL.
 - Fixes issue where computer locks up when listening to streaming audio through 
   an AOL connection.
 - Fixes issue where computer locks up in Standby mode after "More Info" screen.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, empty directory on your 
hard drive.  The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable 
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to 
install the driver. 

3. After the driver has been installed, you may delete the self-extracting file 
downloaded in step 1 if you wish.
