DESCRIPTION: This is the Windows 2000 driver for the Compaq 56K Option 
             Kit International Controllerless PCI Modem.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, empty directory on your 
Hard drive.  The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable 
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. 
Press the "Spacebar" to confirm the unpacking of files into the download directory. 

3. After the files have been unpacked, you may delete the self-extracting file 
Downloaded in step 1.

4. To install the driver, follow either of the two installation options below.

   Installation option #1:

   a) Open the Control Panel and select Add/Remove Hardware. 
 
   b) From the Hardware Wizard, select "Add a new device," then click Next. 

   c) Select "No, I want to select the hardware from a list," then click Next. 

   d) Select "Modem," then click Next. 

   e) Check the box "Don't detect my modem, I will select from a list."

   f) Click "Have Disk," then select the path to the temporary directory on 
      the hard drive where the SoftPaq unpacked the files. 

   g) Select the .INF file, then click "Finish."


   Installation option #2:

   a) Allow Windows 2000 to automatically detect the modem and bring up the 
      Hardware Wizard. 

   b) Select the path to the temporary directory on the hard drive where 
      the SoftPaq unpacked the files.
