DESCRIPTION:  This SoftPaq creates a bootable Compaq Presario ROMPaq Update
Diskette, which can be used to update the System ROM to the following 
versions for the following Presario models:

Enhancements/Fixes:

  In this SoftPaq:
    - Fixed Southbridge issue for power button to generate SCI when pressed.
    - Added support for additional memory ranges.
    - Fixed lock-up with Microsoft Optical mouse.
    - Set ECP as default mode.

Enhancements/Fixes:

  The following were fixed in SP13663, SP12783, SP12392 and SP12204 and are
    also included in this SoftPaq: 

    - Changed BIOS setup default to 32 bit I/O for IDE devices.
    - Added support for new processors.
    - Enabled Setup Keyboard/Mouse support for DOS and Windows safe mode to 
      all USB ports by default. 
    - Fixed an issue with losing drives on the secondary controller when ECP
      was enabled in Setup only under the Windows 2000 OS.  
    - Updated Cache initialization code for new processors
    - Changed BIOS setup default to 32 bit I/O for IDE devices.

      lock up when starting up Windows.
    - Fix for unit sometimes not coming out of sleep.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Format a 1.44-MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, empty directory on your
    hard drive and change to that directory.  The file downloaded
    is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the
    SoftPaq Number above.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file.
    You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette
    into a diskette drive to create the ROMPaq diskette.

4.  After the files are created, you may delete the downloaded
    file if you wish.

5.  Place the ROMPaq diskette into drive A: of the computer you
    wish to update and turn on the power or reboot the computer,
    allowing it to boot from the diskette.

6.  Follow the instructions on the screen to continue.

7.  Select the ROM version to be installed.

8.  The ROMPaq diskette will automatically update the System ROM and 
    notify you when the update is finished.

    DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER'S POWER DURING THIS PROCESS

9.  When the ROM update is finished, you will need to turn the computer off
    and back on for the changes to be in effect.  Remove the ROMPaq diskette
    from the computer.  Press the power button on the front of the unit for
    up to 8 seconds to force power off.  Press the power button to power on
    the unit.
