SYSTEM CONFIGURATION:  MS-6199 ATX VIA system board 
NOTE:  To determine whether your model contains this system board --

1. At power on, when a white background with a red Compaq logo appears on the screen, 
   press the TAB key to view the POST (Power On Self Test) screen.

2. Press the PAUSE key to halt the startup process to allow viewing the lines of text 
   that appear on the screen

   The following two lines of text will be displayed at the top of the screen:

		Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG, An Energy Start Ally
		Copyright (c) 1984-98, Award Software, Inc.

   The next line of text on the screen identifies the system board and will be 
   similar to the following:

		W6199VC8  V1.6B2  [current date]  [current time]

   If this line of text contains the character string "6199V" (as above) then the 
   computer contains an MS-6199 ATX VIA system board.  If not, then it has a different 
   system board and this SoftPaq does not apply.

DESCRIPTION:  This SoftPaq creates a bootable diskette used to update
the System ROM in the specific computer models listed above.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, empty directory on your 
hard drive.  The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable 
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. Insert a blank formatted 1.44 Mb Flopy Diskette into the disk drive, 
execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
Enter "Y" to confirm the unpacking of files into the download directory. 

3. Once the files have been unpacked, the bootable diskette creation 
procedure will be started automatically.

4. Follow the on screen instructions to create the diskette.

5. After the diskette has been created, reboot the system with 
diskette in drive to update the ROM. Do not power-off or reset the system 
during this procedure. 

6. Once the ROM update is complete, remove the diskette from the 
drive and reboot the system.

7. You may now delete the files from the download directory if you wish.
