                       IMPORTANT: To determine if your computer contains this modem,
                                  follow these steps. --
                          
                       1. Right click on "My Computer" located on the desktop.
                       2. Select "Properties" on the menu.
                       3. Select the "Device Manager" Tab.
                       4. Ensure that "View Devices by Type" is selected at the top of 
                          the window.
                       5. Scroll down until you see "Modems" and click on it.
                       6. If it shows "HSP56 Micromodem" then use this SoftPaq.
                          If not, then do not use this SoftPaq.

DESCRIPTION:  This is the driver for the HSP56 Micromodem for the Presario 
models listed above running Windows 95 or Windows 98. 

Enhancements/Fixes:
 - Adds new diagnostic features to HSPDIAG.EXE.
 - Improves the V.34 Network model throughput law in full duplex.
 - Improves connectivity to Nortel headend modems to prevent slow and failed conections.  
 - Fixes modem reports issues of No Dial Tone when trying to dial out after 
   unsuccessful answer.
 - Fixes issue where after WOR, 20% of dload attempts fail.
 - Fixes issue where Enduro modem was not working with WinFax Pro 9.03
 - Fixes wake on ring response.
 - Fixes issue where modem disconnected when the Standby button was pressed while modem 
   was in active mode.
 - Fixes issue where uninstall did not remove all files.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename 
based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. 
Enter "Y" to confirm the unpacking of files into the download directory. 

3. After the files have been unpacked, you may delete the self-extracting file 
downloaded in step 1.

4. For installation instructions
Follow instructions on screen. 

5. After the installation is completed, you may delete the files unpacked in step 2.
