DESCRIPTION: This is the system BIOS (ROMPaq) upgrade for the Armada notebook 
family and models listed in PRODUCTS AFFECTED above.  The BIOS interfaces 
directly with the hardware of the system.

ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
 - Support for two Samsung 256M modules was added.
 - Mew modem support was added
 - Enhanced AGP support was added.
 - Dropping into hibernation from standby was fixed.
 - The ATI controller power state will now properly track with the system power state.
 - Enhanced Support for new programmable key scan codes was added.
 - Problems with docking while in DOS mode were fixed.
 - Performance enhancements for the 3COM NIC in the ArmadaStation EM were added.
 - Misleading power conservation readings were fixed.
 - Several problems relating to Unexpected shutdowns or system hangs while 
   hot docking or undocking were fixed.
 - Modem wake on Ring functionality was added.

HOW TO USE

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the ROMPaq/SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that 
directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based 
on the ROMPaq/SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions.  You will be prompted to 
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the  
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. Turn off the computer.

6. Place the newly created Compaq Armada E700/M700 ROMPaq Diskette in Drive A: 
and turn on the computer. Follow the instructions on the screen to upgrade the 
System BIOS.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE COMPUTER WHILE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE!
