Softpaq: SP1509
File Name: LODERUNN.EXE
Title: Restore Free Software on Presario 5500/9500
Version: N/A
CATEGORY: Software Solutions / Miscellaneous
EFFECTIVE DATE: 05 March 1996
PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Presario 5500 Series and 9500 Series in North America only
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 95
SUPERSEDES: N/A
DESCRIPTION: In North America, three software titles were "locked" on the hard drive of Presario 5500 and 9500 units. These titles were LodeRunner, Instant Calendar, and Key Home Gardener. These titles were automatically unlocked when the customer registered their computer. A file named FREESW.BAT was inadvertently left on the hard drive in the C:\WINDOWS\REGISTER subdirectory, which, if run, would delete the executable files for each of these applications. This softpaq will allow the customer to restore those executables. The file FREESW.BAT will also be deleted from the hard drive.
HOW TO USE:
1. Create a temporary directory on your hard drive called SP1509.
2. Download the SoftPaq to the SP1509 directory and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1509.EXE.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1509 [ENTER]
The following files will be created:
SP1509.DOC
INSTALL.BAT
LODERUNN.EXE
CCWIN.EXE
WNKHG.EXE
4. From the Windows 95 desktop, select Start, Run...
Type: C:\SP1509\INSTALL.BAT and click on OK.
5. The three free software titles will be restored and the file FREESW.BAT will be removed from your hard drive.
6. You may delete the SP1509 subdirectory if you wish.
