DESCRIPTION: This is the system BIOS (ROMPaq) upgrade for the Armada family
and models listed in PRODUCTS AFFECTED above. The BIOS interfaces directly
with the hardware of system.
ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
- A problem reading the external floppy drive was fixed.
This version includes the following enhancements/fixes that were also
implemented in previous System BIOS/ROM versions dated 11/11/99, 11/30/99, 12/04/99
5/23/00, 6/27/00:
- New ATI Rage LT Pro video BIOS to fix a white screen issue with
Sanyo LCD panel was added.
- Resolves an issue under Windows 2000 where an undock message did not appear
when the Armada was undocked.
- Resolves an issue so that now the diskette drive icon in Windows 95 is
correctly removed after the drive is unplugged or ejected.
- Resolves a video issue during docking resume.
- Adds support for Function F10 (Fn+F10) (System BIOS settings).
- Resolved the issue where the hard drive did not idle when the notebook entered
Standby mode under AC power.
- Resolved a system lockup that could occur when hot-undocking after an external
monitor is turned off in Windows 98.
- Resolved a minor issue with the LED brightness during standby in Windows 98.
- Resolved the issue where a computer in ACPI power management mode
would lock up after the second Suspend/Resume.
- Resolved the issue where a computer in Windows 98 ACPI power management mode
would fail Hibernation/Resume.
- Fixed the failure to resume from Hibernation mode under certain conditions.
- Improved communication between the system and the battery.
- Resolved a system resource conflict between the serial mouse and IR (Infrared) port.
HOW TO USE
1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.
2. Download the ROMPaq/SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that
directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based
on the ROMPaq/SoftPaq Number above.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.
4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.
5. Turn off the computer.
6. Place the newly created Compaq Armada M300 ROMPaq Diskette in Drive A:
and turn on the computer. Follow the instructions on the screen to upgrade the
System BIOS.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE COMPUTER WHILE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE!
