DESCRIPTION: Creates the 2-diskette set for the Compaq Array
Configuration Utility, which is for Compaq SMART-2, SMART-2SL,
SMART-2DH, Smart Array 3100ES, Smart Array 3200, Smart Array 221,
Smart Array 431, Integrated Smart Array Controller,Smart Array 4200,
Smart Array 4250ES, Smart Array 5300, RAID Array 4000 Controllers,
Fibre Channel Host Controllers, 64-bit/66-Mhz Fibre Host Bus
Adapters. The Array Configuration Utility Version 2.60 A cannot be
installed on the System Partition, and the diskettes for this version
are not bootable. They are provided to update the ACU on Windows NT or
Windows 2000. It is shipped as diskette(s) on all other products.
Enhancements/Fixes:
Fixed since ACU 2.50 B:
* Support for logical drives that are greater than 502 GB and up to 2.1 TB
on Compaq Smart Array 5300 Controllers.
* Supports rescanning of newly created or deleted logical drives.
* Displays two warning messages related to Windows 2000 when user tries to
extend a logical drive.
* Hot-plug tape drives are now supported on Compaq Smart Array 5300 and
Integrated Smart Array Controllers. FW version 1.60 and above needs to be
used with Compaq Smart Array 5300 Controllers for this support.
* Fixed a problem with the handling of error 15639, 14 drives RAID5, when a
drive was added to an existing array which had more than 14 drives and a
RAID5 log drive. The message is now properly displayed with correct
controller and array information.
* The ACU now displays the proper error message and does not crash if user
tries to create the 33rd logical drive.
* Create a logical drive on a redundant RA4000 controller with at least one
drive that does not support redundancy. If that drive fails and the refresh
button is pressed, the ACU will display an appropriate error message for the
non-supported drive, and show the array as cracked.
* The ACU now displays the appropriate text for the enable and disable options
in the "Advanced" screen of create logical drive dialog.
* Migration from RAID 0 to RAID 5 is now possible with 6 or more physical drives
on Integrated Smart Array Controller. Migration is disabled on Smart Array
431 Controller for FW version less than 1.19. Previous version of ACU didn't
allow RAID 0 to RAID 5 migration on these two controllers when the logical
drive consisted of 6 or more physical drives.
Modified error msg 15428 that comes up when you try to migrate
from RAID 0 to RAID 5 in Smart Array 431 and Integrated Smart Array
Controllers with 8 or more physical drives. The message now gives two more
options at the bottom that will allow migration to occur when the user changes
stripe size first and then try to migrate to the desired RAID level. Hence,
migration will be possible with 8 or more drives in these controllers when the
user follows the message.
* Updated Background Parity Init message to be more informative.
Fixed since ACU 2.51 A:
* Physical drive stamping on Smart Array 5300 controller now works on Win95,
NT 4.0 and Windows 2000.
HOW TO USE:
1. Obtain two (2) formatted 1.44-MB diskettes.
2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file,
and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to
insert the formatted diskettes in a drive to create the diskettes.
4. After the diskettes have been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.
HOW TO UPGRADE THE WINDOWS NT VERSION:
If the Array Configuration Utility is installed online on a Windows
NT server, follow the directions in the Windows NT Support Software
Diskette's README.TXT file to perform the upgrade. Search for the
latest version of the Windows NT Support Software Diskette as a
downloadable Softpaq from Compaq.
