DESCRIPTION: This is the Intel(R) PRO/100+ MiniPCI with Adaptive Link Response (ALR)
driver for the specific notebook computers listed above that have
an Intel PRO/100+ MiniPCI network adapter and desire to avoid/skip
the network login prompt if the network cable is not connected.
IMPORTANT: Before installing this software, verify that
the model number on the modem agency label on the bottom
of the computer corresponds to one of the following:
U98.003.C.00 or U98.004.C.00
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting
executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files.
The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed.
You will be given the chance to specify the target directory for
the files, or default to the download directory.
3. After the files have been unpacked, you may delete the
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.
4. To UPDATE to the newer version of the NIC drivers
a. Select "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel"
b. Double click the "System" icon, then select the "Device Manager" tab
c. Double Click "Network Adapter".
d. Select the "Intel(R) PRO/100+ MiniPCI", then select "Properties"
e. Select the "Driver Tab", then select "Update Driver"
f. Choose "Select from a List"
g. Type in, or Browse to, the directory chosen in Step 2, then select "OK"
h. Select the "Intel(R) PRO/100+ MiniPCI", then select "OK"
i. If prompted for the "Windows CD-ROM"
Type in "C:\Windows\Options\Cabs", then select "OK"
j. If prompted by "A Device has a ROM"
select "Device can be removed safely ...", then select "Test"
k. Select "Close"
l. Select "Close"
