DESCRIPTION:  This creates a diskette containing the Windows 3.1 video drivers for the S3 Trio 64V+ video controller used on the Presario 5500 and 9500 Families.  Do NOT use this with the Presario 7100 Family.  Do NOT use this on systems running Windows 95.  Also download Softpaq 1440 for Windows 3.1 systems.  It contains the S3 Monitor Selection Utility.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain 1 formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP1417.EXE.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
    SP1417[ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a diskette drive to create the diskette.

4.  After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1417.EXE if you wish.

5.  Close Windows and type: CD C:\WINDOWS [Enter]

6.  From the C:\WINDOWS prompt, type: SETUP [Enter]

7.  On the Windows Setup screen, highlight the Display setting using the up/down arrow keys and press [Enter].

8.  Press the down arrow key until the following selection is highlighted:
    "Other display (Requires disk from OEM)..."
    and press [Enter]

9.  Insert the new driver diskette in the A: drive. Make sure the path listed is A:\ and press [Enter]

10.  Highlight the desired video resolution/color depth from the new list and press [Enter]

11.  Verify the new setting on the Windows Setup screen.  Make sure "Accept the configuration shown above" is highlighted and press [Enter]

12.  The new drivers will be installed .  To restart Windows 3.1, type WIN at the DOS prompt.
