DESCRIPTION:  FIX50F.COM enables Compaq computers to run QBASIC programs in Windows 3.x or DOS.  The program resolves the error message "Cannot execute as a child of BASIC".

The program uses the following command line parameters:  
FIX50F /S             Stores original values in RAM and sets up BIOS data area to run QBASIC program
FIX50F /E             Restores original values to BIOS data area after QBASIC program is finished

HOW TO USE:

1.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP1414.EXE.

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1414 [ENTER]
The following files should be created:
FIX50F.COM
FIX50F.DOC

3.  After the files are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1414.EXE if you wish.

4.  Copy FIX50F.COM to a directory assigned in your PATH statement, for example DOS.

5.  Set up a batch file to run your QBASIC program, as shown in the following example:
        FIX50F /S
        Your QBASIC program goes here
        FIX50F /E
