DESCRIPTION:  NECFIX.SYS (or SBNECFIX.SYS) is a driver that resolves anomalies between the Compaq LTE Elite SmartStation and NEC IDE CD Rom drives.

SUPERSEDES:  N/A

HOW TO USE:

1.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP1367.EXE.

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1367 [ENTER]
The following files should be created:
NECFIX.SYS 
NECFIX.DOC 
SBNECFIX.SYS 
SBNECFIX.DOC

3.  After the files are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1367.EXE if you wish.

4.  Use the SBNECFIX.SYS driver with the Creative Labs Soundblaster Multimedia Kits that come with NEC IDE CD ROM drives.  Load SBNECFIX.SYS in the CONFIG.SYS file immediately before the appropriate CD ROM driver, in this case SBIDE.SYS (see example below).

Use the NECFIX.SYS driver with the NEC IDE CD ROM drives from NEC.  Load NECFIX.SYS in the CONFIG.SYS file immediately before the appropriate CD ROM driver, in this case NEC_IDE.SYS.

Example CONFIG.SYS file, where <PATH> is the directory you downloaded the Softpaq to:
