DESCRIPTION: This creates a ROMPaq firmware diskette that can be used to
restore or upgrade the System ROM to the 08/18/99 version in Compaq Prosignia
Desktop 330 Series models mentioned above, when they have a 686T9 Family ROM.
The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running F10 Setup.

A unique feature of the ROM is one that allows the user to select the language used in
F10 Setup. The user may choose between Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German,
Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swedish. Please note however that
the user sees the chosen language only in F10 Setup not in the operating system.

This ROM version is compatible for use with Windows 2000.

Enhancements/Fixes:

- Corrects an issue specific to the 08/05/99 release for certain combinations of add-in
cards. The specific issue pertained to an Intel 82559 NIC and a Diamond V770 AGP video
card that was causing the system to not display video output.
- Corrects an issue with the 08/05/99 BIOS when using some older ISA add-in cards. The
specific issue was a resource conflict with an ISA IBM 16/4 Token Ring card.
- Corrects an issue specific to the 08/05/99 BIOS where PCI cards not supporting power
management may cause the system to hang.
- Corrects a condition with drive geometry that prevented older versions of SCO
  Unix(e.g. v3.2) from installing.
- Corrects an issue when using PCI expansion bays with a high number (fifteen or more)
  of PCI cards inserted.
- Populated the "Processor Version" field in SMBIOS. This change was made to support the
  IBM Netfinity software.
- Adds a new F10 Setup option, "AGP Aperture Size", under Advanced->Device Options that allows
users to modify the AGP aperture size window from the default of 64MB.
- Added support for Intel Pentium III B0 stepping processors.

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. Keeping the newly created diskette in the A: drive, cycle
system power to boot from the ROMPaq diskette.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the 08/18/99
Compaq System ROM or the Language Module option and upgrade the firmware.
