DESCRIPTION:  Options ROMPaq diskettes allow a user to upgrade the ROM firmware
images for Compaq System Product Options. Options ROMPaq consists of ten (10)
diskettes:

        Disk 1 - Options ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for 
                 the Compaq SMART-2 Family, SMART Array 3100ES,
                 3200, 221, 4200, 4250ES and Integrated SMART
                 Array Controllers.

        Disk 2 - Options ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for 
                 Compaq RA4000 Controllers.

        Disk 3 - Options ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for 
                 Compaq SCSI Hard Drives.

        Disk 4 - Options ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for 
                 Compaq SCSI Hard Drives.

        Disk 5 - Options ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for

        SP8050.

* NOTE: This Options ROMPaq discontinues support for a number of older devices.
        Refer to the section titled "Devices No Longer Supported" for details.
        To upgrade these devices, obtain a copy of SOFTPaq SP11663.

KNOWN ISSUES:

  Devices whose firmware images have been removed from this release will still
  be recognized by the Options ROMPaq drivers. If present in a given system,
  these devices will appear in the device selection dialog. If the user selects
  one of these devices, Options ROMPaq will display an error dialog containing
  the following text:
                   
            There are no ROM image files on the diskette for the 
            device you have selected.
 

HOW TO USE:

  1. Obtain ten (10) formatted 1.44-MB diskettes.

  2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
     to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with 
     a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

  3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
     and follow the on-screen instructions.  You will be prompted to 
     insert the formatted diskettes in a drive to create the diskettes.

  4. After the diskettes have been created, you may delete the  
     SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

  5. The Options ROMPaq diskettes are self-booting diskettes.  Place each
     ROMPaq diskette into your drive A: diskette drive and power cycle your
     system to begin updating the appropriate components.
