DESCRIPTION:  Creates a diskette containing the Windows 2000 BETA drivers for the
              Compaq WL100 and WL200 Wireless LAN cards.  
  IMPORTANT:  These are BETA drivers; please return to www.compaq.com to download
              future driver releases for Windows 2000.

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
   to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable
   with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and
   follow the on-screen instructions.  You will be prompted to 
   insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the SoftPaq 
   file downloaded in step 2.

5. To install the drivers, follow the installation instructions 
   for the Compaq WL 100 or WL 200 Wireless LAN card (Windows 98
   procedure steps).

6. Windows 2000 asks for the drivers, which are located on the
   diskette created in step 3 above.

7. Windows 2000 may display a message stating that "No valid 
   Windows 2000 signature was found." Continue the installation 
   by clicking on YES. The drivers are then loaded.

9. To complete the setup, adjust the wireless parameters within
   the NETWORK PLACES PROPERTIES tab (right-click on Network
   Places, click on Properties, then Properties again, then
   Configure).

10. Select the ADVANCED tab and change the Network Name to the 
    SSID for your wireless LAN.
    
11. Change the Network Type to Infrastucture or Ad-Hoc.

12. Verify that Encryption is DISABLED. These Windows 2000 
    BETA level drivers do not yet support Encryption.

13. Click OK to save the settings and close the NETWORK PLACES.
