DESCRIPTION: Upon resuming from Suspend mode, Windows NT 4.0 cycles power to the
PC-Card slots of the Compaq portable products listed above. Depending on the
PC-Card driver, a network PC-Card may or may not restart and reconnect to the network.
To prevent Windows NT 4.0 from cycling power to the PC-Card slots, this SoftPaq
disables Power Management by updating the Registry to change "/PM:ON" to "/PM:OFF"
in the following line of the Registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PCCS\Options]
"CommandLine"="/SC:off /MC:15 /BS:0x80000000 /BE:0xA0000000 /PM:OFF"
This allows PC-Card connectivity to remain when entering and resuming from Suspend mode.
NOTE: To change back to the default Registry setting, advanced users can use the
Registry editor to change "/PM:OFF" back to "/PM:ON".
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename
based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
Enter "Y" to confirm the unpacking of files into the download directory.
3. After the files have been unpacked, you may delete the self-extracting file
downloaded in step 1.
4. For installation instructions, refer to the README.TXT file.
5. After the installation is completed, you may delete the files unpacked
