PRODUCTS AFFECTED:  Any Compaq computer, such as ProLinea or Presario, with Tseng Labs W32i video chip set running Shinelink 3270 emulation code.

OPERATING SYSTEM:  MS-DOS 6.2 or greater

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION:  Tseng Labs W32i video

DESCRIPTION:  This program will fix a Shinelink 3270 emulation screen refresh problem on Compaq computers with a Tseng Lab W32i video chip.  Symptoms include:
    - the main logon screen continually refreshes when first logging on
    - any keystroke causes the system to hang.
NOTE:  This program should not be used if a lightpen is to be used with the system, since it will disable all lightpen capabilities for the 3270 emulation.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP1254.EXE.

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1254 [ENTER]
The following files should be created:
EMU.COM
EMU.DOC 

3.  Copy the files to the same directory where the Shinelink emulation code (EMU.EXE) is found.

     COPY EMU.*  \[same directory as EMU.EXE]

4.  You may delete the downloaded file SP1254.EXE if you wish.

5.  EMU.COM should now be located in the same directory as EMU.EXE.  To run EMU.EXE type in EMU and press enter.  This will cause EMU.COM to load up EMU.EXE, patch the program and then run it.  This process should be transparent to the user.
