Softpaq Solution: SP1229
File Name: CPQS94.DSK
Title: Fix Pegasus SCSI Hard Drive under NetWare 3.12
Version:

CATEGORY: Drivers / Miscellaneous

EFFECTIVE DATE: 09 June 1995

PRODUCTS AFFECTED: DeskPro XL

OPERATING SYSTEM: DOS

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: Novell 3.12

SUPERSEDES: N/A

DESCRIPTION: This softpaq corrects a problem on a Deskpro XL running Netware 3.12 with a 1.05GB or 535 IBM "Pegasus" SCSI hard drive connected to the onboard controller. The system will halt, drop client connections, and leave the server disk corrupted. Once the workstation machine drops from the network, the server is no longer visible. It occasionally fails during server software installation. Typically the failure manifests itself in less than 20 minutes depending upon drive access load.

This softpaq will update the SCSI driver from NPFC version 2.55 or earlier.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to
that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1229.EXE.

2. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
    SP1229 [ENTER]
The following files will be created:
    SP1229.DOC
    CPQS94.DSK

3. After the files are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1229.EXE if you wish.

4. To load the updated drivers, copy CPQS94.DSK to the DOS partition of the same directory where your old driver resides. The next time you reboot your server, the new drivers will be loaded.
