Deskpro XE 560 manufactured between January 14 to March 24, 1995.  This can be found in the system serial number by decoding the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th digits. The 2nd digit identifies the year.  The 3rd and 4th digits identifies the week. (x50211711171 thru x51211711171)

DESCRIPTION: PASSWORD.EXE is file that will reset the checksum bits to the proper count and allow the entry of a valid power-on password. This file will NOT erase a valid password nor will it allow the altering of a valid password.  This program was created to correct an issue caused by Compaq Manufacturing Diagnostics writing information to a CMOS location which conflicts with the checksum location of the power-on password casuing an invalid password to be installed on a system.

WHEN TO USE:  If you are unable to set a power-on password from F10 setup.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP1171.EXE.

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1171 [ENTER]
The following files will be created:
PASSWORD.EXE
SP1171.DOC

3.  You may delete the downloaded file SP1171.EXE if you wish.

4. Execute PASSWORD
