DESCRIPTION: This Softpaq creates two bootable diskettes to resolve an issue
where some Deskpro models listed above contain certain IBM IDE hard drives
that cause a false 1782 error message to be displayed when the system starts up.
If the error message has not occurred yet on a Deskpro EN LFF, Deskpro EN SFF, or
Deskpro EP, use the first diskette to autodetect all hard drives currently installed.
If an IBM IDE hard drive affected by this issue is found, the utility on this
diskette updates the controller on the hard drive to prevent the false error messages
from occurring. To run this utility, insert the first diskette in drive A:
and restart the computer, allowing it to boot from the diskette and run the utility.
If the false 1782 error message has occurred, use the second diskette to update the
controller on the hard drive to correct the issue. Insert the second diskette in
drive A: and restart the computer, allowing it to boot from the diskette and run the
utility.
Both utilities are non-destructive and do not affect user data.
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, empty directory on your
hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
Two bootable diskettes will be created.
3. After the diskettes have been created, you may delete the self-extracting file
downloaded in step 1.
4. See the Description section above for instructions on using the diskettes.
