DESCRIPTION:  The Options ROMPaq diskettes allow a user to
upgrade the ROM Firmware images for Compaq System product Options.  The
Options ROMPaq consists of one (1) diskette:

	Disk 1 - Options ROMpaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for the 
		 Compaq SMART-2, Smart Array 3100ES, Smart Array 
		 3200, Smart Array 221, and Raid Array 4000 Controllers
	
* NOTE: This Otion ROMPaq does not contain any firmware images for any
	Compaq hard drives.  Obtain Softpaq SP9895 to get the latest
	firmware from Compaq for current hard drive models.

* NOTE: This Option ROMPaq does not contain firmware images for any
        Compaq tape drives. Obtain SoftPaq SP9893 to get the latest 
        firmware from Compaq for current tape drive models and SP7342
        to get the latest firmware for Compaq 2/4-GB DAT, 4/16-GB 
        TurboDAT, and 4/16-GB TurboDAT Autoloader.

* NOTE: This Option ROMPaq does not contain firmware images for the 
        Compaq SMART Controller. Obtain SoftPaq SP8560 to get firmware
        for this controller.


Enhancements/Fixes:
- Upgraded SMART-2 Family Controllers, Smart Array 3100ES and 3200 Controllers and 
  Smart Array 221 Controller firmware to 4.16 for the following issues:

        - Fixed an issue that may cause intermittant controller hangs following
	  SCSI command timeouts when Performance Montioring System (PMS) is enabled.
        - Fixed an issue with SCSI bus parity errors being generated by Wide-Ultra hard 
          drives installed in a non-Wide-Ultra enclosure resulting in the drives being
          failed by the array controller at POST.
        

- Upgraded Compaq Raid Array 4000 Controller firmware to 2.40 to address
  the following issues:

	- Controller not becoming ready if hot-plugged
	- Corrected controller lockup under certain conditions
        - Corrected issues with upgrading attached drive firmware

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain one (1) formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with 
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions.  You will be prompted to 
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the  
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. The Options ROMPaq diskette is a self-booting diskette.  Place the
ROMPaq diskette into your drive A: diskette drive and power cycle your
system to begin updating the appropriate components.
