SYSTEM CONFIGURATION:  LTE Lite with Desktop Expansion Base or SmartStation.

DESCRIPTION:  SetSoft v1.0 gives support for soft drive types 65 and 66 on the LTE Lite Family for the secondary controller built into the Desktop Expansion Base or SmartStation.

NOTE: If switching between Elite and LTE Lite, drive parameters must match or DATA MAY BE LOST.  Use Elite SETUP to examine fixed disk parameters, and use the SetSoft command line if SetSoft finds  incorrect values.

HOW TO USE:  

1.  After downloading the SoftPaq, copy it to an empty directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.  If downloaded in zipped format (.ZIP), unzip the file to create an executable:  PKUNZIP SP1100

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file to unbind the primary files:  SP1100 [ENTER]
The following files should be created: 



3.  Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

4.  To create the diskette and install the software, refer to SP1100.DOC.



HOW TO USE:

        1.  Set LTE Lite Secondary Controller Drive 1 to type 65 and
            Drive 2 (if it exists) to type 66.

        2.  Edit CONFIG.SYS and place the following line before any driver
            that talks to the drive:

                          DEVICE=<path>\SETSOFT.EXE

            where <path> is the path where SETSOFT.EXE is to be found

        3.  For DOS EXTDISK.SYS is needed to access the secondary controller.


        4.  SetSoft will display configuration of drive (see Sample Program
            Output) at load time.  When switching between Elite and LTE Lite
            computers make sure these parameters match.  If they do not,
            use command line to specify correct parameters.  Running SETSOFT
            at a DOS prompt will show configuration and the help screen.

        5.  Optional parameters for use in CONFIG.SYS:

                /C:xxxx, where xxxx is a decimal number from 1 to 1023
                         for the number of Cylinders of the drive,
                /H:xxx,  where xxx is a decimal number from 1 to 255
                         for the number of Heads of the drive,
                /S:xx,   where xx is a decimal number from 1 to 63
                         for the number of Sectors of the drive,
                /E:xxx,  where xxx is a decimal number from 1 to 255
                         for the number of ECC bytes for burst,

             All of the above values must be entered for a valid entry. The
             second entry of each of the above will go to softdrive type 66
             for the case of two drives.  The following parameters are
             optional:

                /O      allows more than 1023 cylinders to be entered,
                        Windows 95 will support > 528M drives, EXTDISK
                        does not.

                /N      allows more than 1023 cylinders to be entered,
                        but does not translate drive, translation doubles
                        the number of heads and halves the number of
                        cylinders

             Example:

                DEVICE=<path>\SETSOFT.EXE /C:897 /H:15 /S:62 /E:4
