DESCRIPTION:
This software provides local alerting, DMI, SNMP, and DMI web agents for 
Compaq Desktop Systems that support Intelligent Manageability running 
either Windows 95/98 or Windows NT. 

Local alerting notifies the user if the system temperature has been 
exceeded under normal operating conditions or if an imminent drive failure
has been detected. SNMP agents allow the system to be managed by 
SNMP-compliant management applications such as Compaq Insight Manager. 

Desktop Management Interface (DMI) support allows the computer to be 
managed by DMI-compliant management applications. 

DMI Web agents allow the computer to be managed both locally and remotely 
by a web browser (Internet Explorer 4.01 or later).


ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES: 
-  Adds DMI web agents.
-  Adds dynamic device insertion/removal support for WfM 2.0 compliance.
-  Adds support for reporting USB hard drive, NIC, keyboard, and mouse 
devices.
-  Adds support for Intel's processor serial number.
-  Integrates with Compaq's System Software Manager(SSM).
-  Provides the ability to hide the taskbar icon.
-  Provides the ability to disable trap editing on the SNMP status screen.

to appear as not manageable.
-  Fixes Windows 9x hang when Diagnostics is run before 3 minutes after 
initial boot.
-  Fixes problem where Ultra Wide SCSI devices with SCSI ID greater than 
7 were not being reported.
-  Fixes problem where files are installed to non-translated "Program 
Files" directory for non-English operating systems.


HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename
based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

3. After the files have been unpacked, you may delete the self-extracting
file downloaded in step 1.

4. To install, read and follow the instructions provided with the software.

5. To create (optional) installation (or other deliverable) diskette(s) 
run MAKEDISK.BAT and follow the on-screen instructions. 
MAKEDISK.BAT is included only if installation diskette(s) creation is an option.

6. After the installation is completed, you may delete the directory
created in step 2 if you wish.
