Developed for use with Compaq PCMCIA modems, this enabler is also
compatible with other PCMCIA 2.01-compliant modems. (Specific popular
PCMCIA 2.0 modems are also supported, such as the Megahertz 14.4
Data/Fax modem with X-Jack.)
SUPERCEDES: None
HOW TO USE:
1. Obtain a formatted 720KB diskette.
2. If SoftPaq obtained on diskette, copy the SoftPaq file to a temporary
directory on the hard drive and go to that directory:
MD C:\ENABLER
COPY A:\SP1034.EXE C:\ENABLER
C:
CD \ENABLER
If SoftPaq downloaded from BBS, go to the directory where downloaded
to:
C:
CD \ENABLER
PKUNZIP SP1034.ZIP
3. From that drive and directory, run the SoftPaq utility to unbind the
primary files.
Type SP1034 (and press ENTER).
The following files should be created:
181640EN._01
QRST5.EXE
SP1034.DOC
4. Create the diskette image by running this command at the DOS prompt:
QRST5 (and press ENTER)
5. The "Select Option for Creating Disk" prompt appears. Choose the
highlighted, default selection "All diskettes in the Set" by pressing
ENTER.
6. The "You will need to have the specified number of each type(s) of
pre-formatted media..." prompt appears. It is asking for one 720 KB
diskette.
Verify that you have a formatted 720 KB diskette and press ENTER to
accept and continue.
IMPORTANT: Only a 720 KB diskette can be used, other types of media
cannot be substituted.
7. The "Enter Destination Drive" screen will appear.
Insert a 720 KB diskette into drive [A] or [B]" prompt is given.
(Either A or B will be included in the prompt, depending on where
your 3.5 inch diskette drive is located.)
If the drive shown in the prompt is not the one you wish to use, change
the value by pressing either A or B.
To begin diskette creation, press ENTER.
8. A counter box will be displayed during creation showing status. The
number of cylinders will count up to 80.
9. When QRST5 has completed, it will exit back to DOS.
10. At this point, the PCMCIA Modem Enabler diskette has been created
and is ready to use.
11. Please view the README.TXT file on the newly created PCMCIA Modem
Enabler Diskette for installation instructions and paramater settings.
