Version 1.20 or later (available as SoftPaq SP10052 on the Compaq website).

DESCRIPTION: Copies and expands files necessary for the V.90 Firmware
Update of Compaq Microcom 420 56K PC Card Fax Modems.  By default, 
the files are copied into the directory where the SoftPaq is located;
however, the user may choose to enter a different path. 

ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
 - Adds country support for Spain, S. Africa, Portugal, Poland, 
   Czech Republic, Ireland, Iceland, Greece, Israel and Turkey (ONLY 
   when used with the Country Select Utility included on the Compaq 
   Microcom 56K PC Card Fax Modem Installation Software Diskette, 
   Version 1.20 or later, available as SoftPaq SP10052).

 - Fixes a no compression/error correction problem when calling servers
   that answer with the cellular access bit set in V.8.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
   to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable
   with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and
   follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to confirm
   (or change) the name and location of the directory, into which the
   files contained in the Softpaq will be expanded.

3. After expansion, you may delete the SoftPaq file downloaded in 
   step 1 above.

4. Use a text editor to read and print the README.TXT file, which can
   be found in the directory where the SoftPaq files were expanded.
   This file contains detailed instructions on how to update the
   modem firmware.
