Title: PCNet-SCSI Support Diskette for MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows 1.02
Version: 1.02
_______________________________________________________________________
CATEGORY: Drivers
EFFECTIVITY DATE: 11-15-94
PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Deskpro XL series
OPERATING SYSTEM: MS-DOS 5.0 or greater, Microsoft Windows 3.1
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: As per OPERATING SYSTEMS, above.
SUPERCEDES: SP0932
DESCRIPTION: This is a Softpaq of the PCNet-SCSI Support Diskette
for MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows, version 1.02. The
following changes have been made to the drivers from
version 1.01:
DOS ASPI (AMSIDA.SYS)
New DOS ASPI driver fixes problems when using upper-level
ASPI drivers under Windows. These include the drivers for
the HP ScanJet and PC Tools Backup (PET #45750.)
DOS ASPI (AMSIDA.SYS) also fixes problem where it would switch
to an uninitialized stack during initialization. This problem
became evident when using QEMM optimization utility (PET #44570.)
SCSI Install (AMINSTAL.EXE)
AMINSTAL.EXE install no longer installs FastDisk (AMSIWF.386)
or Win ASPI VxD (AMSIAV.386), due to problems with FastDisk.
Reboot button removed from AMINSTAL.EXE. This is because it was
possible for the user to reboot before the SMARTDRV.EXE cache
had flushed. Now the user must exit the utility and reboot
manually.
Windows ASPI (WINASPI.DLL)
Win ASPI (WINASPI.DLL) fixes a problem where Norton Backup
for Windows would cause a system hang when configuring
SCSI devices. Hang occurred because interrupts were disabled
while Win ASPI looped waiting for an interrupt. Now, Win
ASPI saves the state of the flags register, and enables
interrupts before looping. The flags register is restored
when the request completes.
Win ASPI also fixes a problem where an incorrect error code
was returned, causing Colorado Memory Systems backup for
Windows to fail while detecting SCSI controllers.
DOS ODI Driver (PCNTNW.COM, v1.16)
Modified to fix a problem where a client occasionally would lockup
when using QUEMM (Pet #46104).
Windows for Workgroups NDIS 3 Driver (PCNTN3.386, v2.16)
Modified to address problem where "server" machine under heavy load
would lockup (Pet #46247).
Modified code to address problem where clients drop off
and "server" is unable to receive packets (PET #46247). Also address a
problem where driver would not load when system was warmed and NDIS 2
had been running.
