HOW TO USE:

NOTE: For Contura Aero users with no PCMCIA Floppy, please see the
special section for Aero Users.

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2. If SoftPaq obtained on diskette, copy the SoftPaq file to a temporary
directory on the hard drive and go to that directory:

     MD C:\ROMPAQ
     COPY A:\SP0946.EXE C:\ROMPAQ
     C:
     CD \ROMPAQ

If SoftPaq downloaded from BBS, go to the directory where downloaded
   to:
      C:
      CD \ROMPAQ
      PKUNZIP SP0946.ZIP

3. From that drive and directory, run the SoftPaq utility to unbind the
   primary files.

   Type SP0946 (and press ENTER).

The following files should be created:

     181148-G._01
     QRST.EXE
     SP0946.DOC

4. Create the diskette image by running this command at the DOS prompt:

     QRST (and press ENTER)

5. The "Choose the Transfer Type..." prompt appears. Choose the
highlighted, default selection "All diskettes in the Set" by pressing
   ENTER.

6. The "You will need to have the specified number of each type(s) of
pre-formatted media..." prompt appears. It is asking for one 1.44 MB
   diskette.

Verify that you have a formatted 1.44 MB diskette and press ENTER to
accept and continue.

IMPORTANT: Only a 1.44 MB diskette can be used, other types of media
           cannot be substituted.

7. The "Create diskette number one, insert a 1.44 MB diskette into drive
[A] or [B]" prompt is given. (Either A or B will be included in the
prompt, depending on where your 3.5 inch diskette drive is located.

If the drive shown in the prompt is not the one you wish to use, change
the value by pressing either A or B.

At this point, you can optionally print a label (if your printer is
attached) by pressing F5.

To begin diskette creation, press ENTER.

8. A counter box will be displayed during creation showing status. The
number of cylinders will count up to 80.

9. When QRST has completed, it will exit back to DOS with the message:

     "QRST: Transfer Completed"

10. At this point, the Portable ROMPaq diskette has been created
and is ready to use for upgrading the Computer Setup.

11. Power down the laptop machine.

12. Place the newly created ROMPaq Diskette in Drive A:, and power up
the laptop unit on AC power.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE SYSTEM WHILE PERFORMING
           THIS PROCEDURE!

AERO USERS Without a PCMCIA Floppy Drive
-----------------------------------------
NOTE: A host computer system with a diskette drive is required
       to perform the reprogramming procedure.

1. A ROMPaq diskette must be created per the above instructions on a
host machine with a Floppy Drive.

2. Turn ON the Contura Aero and create a directory in DOS in which to
   store ROMPAQ files.

   MD C:\ROMPAQ

3. Turn ON the host computer system, insert the ROMPAQ diskette into
the diskette drive, and attach the WinLink cable between the host
system and the target Contura Aero.

4. Using the host computer system, transfer the following files
from the ROMPaq diskette in the host system to the newly
created C:\ROMPAQ directory on the Contura Aero:

    CPULITE.CPU
    ROMPAQ.EXE
    SHADOW00.4C8

5. Ensure that the Contura Aero is powered by an A/C Adapter
(not by battery). Reboot the Contura Aero. When the screen
displays the message "Starting MS-DOS," press the F5 key.
This action takes the system directly to the DOS prompt,
bypassing the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files.

6. At the DOS prompt, go to the directory in which the ROMPaq
   files are stored by typing:

   CD\ROMPAQ

7. At the DOS prompt C:\ROMPAQ, type:

   ROMPAQ

   and press the Enter key.

8. Perform the common flash ROM procedure.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE SYSTEM WHILE PERFORMING
               THIS PROCEDURE!
