PRODUCTS AFFECTED: All NetFlex-2 adapters

OPERATING SYSTEM: OS/2 1.X, OS/2 2.X, and MS-DOS

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: not applicable

DESCRIPTION: The software is updated device drivers for the NetFlex-2
family of adapters. It includes updated MAC code (version 1.01) to resolve
an Active Monitor issue. Servers could lose their network connections when
users would turn off their stations with connections still active to the
server (even though they logged off). This caused a fairly high rate of
network errors to occur on the ring when the user's station was deinserted
from the token ring (this is normal for token ring because of the relay
bounce in the hubs). The MAC code in the server NIC would see these errors
and handle them properly in all but the following scenario: If a packet
was currently being transmitted around the ring and a station was deinserted,
the bouncing relay would disrupt the signal causing the end delimiter to be
lost; however, the bouncing relay was clean enough not to cause a token
ring burst error.

HOW TO USE: Unpack the files in a subdirectory and follow the installation
instruction for use of the files.
