DESCRIPTION:

This release contains the printer drivers for the Compaq PageMarq 15 and 20
laser printers using Lotus 1-2-3 for DOS Release 3.1 & 3.4.  The Softpaq
contains the self-extracting archive named 1233X20.EXE.  To use the driver,
you must first extract it using the following steps:

1. Execute the Softpaq in any empty directory.
2. Make that directory current.
3. Execute 1233X20.EXE.

(I) GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT PAGEMARQ WYSIWYG DRIVERS
===============================================================

The driver provides spreadsheet and graphic printing the PostScript mode
of the Compaq PageMarq 15/20 printers.  Features supported include:

    * Lempel-Ziv-Welch Compression filter.
    * Level II Postscript command for Paper and Tray selection
    * Use of Policies dictionary.


PAPER TRAY HANDLING

Paper tray selection works using the principle of tray PRIORITIES.
If several trays contain like sized paper, they will be searched for a
non-empty tray in an order which depends on the tray selected in the 
WYSIWYG configuration (:Print Config Bin).  The tray selections work as
follows:

        TRAY            ORDER IN WHICH TRAYS ARE SEARCHED

        Upper           Upper Lower MPF

        Lower           Lower Upper MPF

        Single          MPF only (uses MPF irrespective of page size)

        Manual          Manual Feed only (should be used only if no MPF
                        is installed)

        Reset           Uses the printer control panel default

(II) INSTALLATION NOTES FOR UPDATE DISK
======================================================

NOTE: If you run 1-2-3 from a network drive, your network
administrator must install the Update on your server.  Network
administrators need full access rights to install the Update.
The installation procedure below is the same for stand-alone
users and for network administrators.

To use the Update Disk, you must complete these steps:

1.  Place the Compaq PageMarq Driver disk in drive A:

2.  Change to drive A: by typing
        A:      then  <ENTER>

3.  Type
        INSTDRV "path"  "drive": <ENTER>

    Substitute your 123 directory for "path", and the drive letter of the
    distribution disk for "drive".  For help, just type:
 
        INSTDRV <ENTER>


4.  Change to your 123 directory (INSTDRV will give instructions).

    The Introductory Lotus Install screen should now appear.

    Press <ENTER>

5.  Select  "Change selected equipment" then press <ENTER>

6.  Select  "Modify current DCF" then press <ENTER>

7.  Select  "Change selected printer" then press <ENTER>

8.  Select  "Compaq" then press <ENTER>

9.  Select  "PageMarq 15/20" then press <ENTER>

10. Select the appropriate entry for the size of paper you wish to use
    (i.e. Letter or A4) and press <ENTER>

11. If you wish to use Letter and A4, repeat steps 7 - 10 for the
    unselected paper size

12. Select "Return to Menu" and press <ENTER>

13. Select "Return to Main Menu" and press <ENTER>

14. Select "End Install Program" and press <ENTER>

15. Choose "Yes" to save changes and press <ENTER>

16. Press <ENTER> to use 123 as the DCF name

17. Choose "Yes" to end install and press <ENTER>


The selected driver and font combinations will now be installed and can be
used in Lotus 123 Release 3.1 or 3.4

(III) PRINTING THE SP0931.DOC FILE
===================================================================

NOTE:  PRINTING SP0931.DOC TO A LOCALLY CONNECTED PRINTER

       1. Make the drive that contains the Update Disk current.
       2. At the DOS prompt, enter the following command:

          PRINT SP0931.DOC PRN


          (Where PRN represents the port you print to
          for example LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, or PRN)


For more information on printing a file from DOS, please consult your
DOS manual.



NOTE:  PRINTING SP0931.DOC TO A NETWORK PRINTER

       1. Make the drive that contains the Update Disk current.
       2. At the DOS prompt, enter the following command:

          COPY SP0931.DOC LPTX

          (Where X  represents the port you print to
          for example LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, or LPT4)

For more information on printing a file from DOS, please consult your
DOS manual.  For more information on determining your network printer port,
please contact your network administrator.
